Nikolai Hanke graduated from the »State Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart« with a Master of Arts in Architecture. He was born in Friedrichshafen, Germany, a city on the northern shoreline of Lake Constance, and is currently based in Stuttgart, Germany. His work is mainly located at the traditional boundaries of architecture and urbanism, and imagines new types of space through various combinations of research, design, representation, history and style. His work is expressed through different media such as line drawings, digital imagery, animated videos, 3D prints, physical models and installations.
He graduated with distinction from the »State Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart« and received the Academy Masterthesis Award for his master thesis »Museum of the Internet«.
He has collaborated with and worked for several architects, most recently for Lederer+Ragnarsdòttir+Oei architects and Atelier Brückner, as part of the design team for a number of different architectural projects and conceptual proposals. He is currently working for SCOPE architects, inter alia, as a BIM coordinator (interview2020).
