The Master Thesis »Museum of the Internet« is a theoretical investigation of the museum in the context of digitalization and real-time-technologies.
Existing museum concepts are analyzed in detail and new points of view are elaborated. In particular, the societal impact of the new technologies on space perception and spatial understanding are examined. Concepts such as parallelism and simultaneity as well as the spatial overcoming of distances are discussed.
Five different strategies and methods are developed which comprise the transmission of digital content into spatial concepts:
- structure and typology
- copy and imitation
- metaphor
- illustration
- process
This technique is a profound and contemporary confrontation of the building type of the museum, which offers new perspectives and approaches for architectural museum concepts in its own way.
